What does „Gadano” mean?

In the Polish language the verb may appear in two forms i.e. the personal one (indicating who the ‘doer’ of the activity is, e.g.. mówię, piszesz, robią  etc.) and   the non-personal one:

-  as an infinitive, e.g:  , mówić, pisać, robić

-  as a participle, e.g. robiący, piszący, robiony, pisany, pisząc, napisawszy  etc.

-  as a form  including the reflexive  „się”, e.g. mówi się, robi się

- as a form with the  -to, -no  ending, e.g. robiono, mówiono

The instance of the above mentioned non-personal form of the verb is the „gadano” word. „Gadano” derives from „gadać” which is synonymous to „mówić”. „Gadano” does not indicate any specific ‘doer’ (as it is an impersonal form as such) and it refers to the past. Thus, you may say as follows:

Na spotkaniu gadano o najlepszych filmach XXI wieku.

Tam gadano, że wszystko będzie w porządku.

W urzędzie zawsze gadano z nim po angielsku.

W szkole „Gadano” gadano po polsku.  -   This  is   what  we  teach  and  encourage you to  do as  often as  possible :)
