10 characteristics of a good Polish language teacher

1. Educated. This teacher needs to know Polish language great and - just as importantly - know how to teach it: in stages, during the classes, which successively logically fall out each other. There is no  room for randomness.

2. Prepared for the lesson - this does not mean that he has copied the next chapter of the book. A great teacher is one who has prepared before the lesson, reviewed several textbooks and created his own plan for the lesson. The auteur of the lesson should be just the lecturer, not the author of the coursebook!

3. Fascinated by what he teaches. After the twinkle in his eye you will know him ;)

4. Demanding. Why the lecturer requires something from you? He just wants you to learn. If you are a student of a required teacher, sometimes it may happen that you will be surprised at the growing expectations from you. But after years of it, this teacher will be one that you will mention. Because a teacher – as the name suggests – is to teach you.

5. Motivating – he can give you a lot of reasons why you want to learn Polish.

6. Wordy. He made you to do the homework? He must see it. Homework task is an unspoken agreement: I ask you, you do it - I check. A good teacher is a person who redeems with the agreements.

7. All the time he is learning: 1. Polish (because in our language there are after all changes!), 2. modern technology to facilitate the learning of students.

8. A good listener. Student is the most important, not the lecturer. The student says - teacher listens, and when you need it, he must set you right. How to know if your lecturer is a good listener? On Monday, tells how he spent the weekend, and then asks about your weekend. Except that he says one sentence, and you are allowed to talk as much as you want to.

9. Check your progress in learning, for example, while doing the tests.

10. Trustworthy. You have a problem not related directly to the course? The lecturer should be a person trusted enough that you are not afraid to ask anything of him.

It seems to you that I am exaggerating, because such a lecturer does not exist? If so, it means, that you have not found such a lecturer yet. Look, because it's worth doing it. You will really feel the difference.
